Fletcher Family Research Bulletin

Research Policies and Queries

The Fletcher Family Research Bulletin serves as a clearinghouse to disseminate Fletcher genealogical data and to help Fletcher researchers everywhere link up with each other and share resources. Both primary and secondary source materials are published, as well as charts and histories still in the process of being verified by individual researchers. From time to time, research from individuals researching the same line is analyzed and published as a unit.

The editor does not assume responsibility for proving the validity of research conducted by subscribers and other contributors. Where possible, though, conflicting data is footnoted and additional references cited.

Because of the time involved in publishing a genealogy newsletter with a large and growing list of subscribers, the editor can no longer conduct private research for individuals or serve as a free lookup service for non-subscribers. Brief questions will be answered, preferably by e-mail, from current subscribers or from those contemplating a subscription. If using regular mail service, please enclose an SASE to speed up your request.

Fletcher came to Calhoun Co. late 1850s with his uncle William James; served with the 3^rd Arkansas Calvary during the Civil War. His mother was Martha James. The family was in Saline Co. AR in 1850 census with Martha listed as head of household. In 1860 George Washington Fletcher was in Calhoun Co. AR with William James. Will share forty years of research on this family.

Lawrence Fletcher lfletch@cogeco.ca In order to verify some unexpected DNA results, I need to recruit a DNA participant who descends from William Fletcher (1802-1878) of Digby, Nova Scotia, son of Daniel Fletcher (whose family group sheet appears on page 34). I descend from William’s son Charles Henry Fletcher (1843-1921) and would like to contact one or more descendants from his four brothers: Edward James Fletcher (1826-1902); George Willard Fletcher (1830-1904); William Joice Fletcher (1832-1878). Another brother was Fowler H. Fletcher, who d. young. I have the following clues about their descendants: 1) Charles E. Fletcher, a son of Edward James b. in 1892, is said to have moved to the U.S. and 2) male descendants of George Willard were George Arthur, b. 1869; Shapleigh Owen, b. 1864; Willard V., b. 1861, and Howard F., b. 1857. My mother’s notes say her name was Eunice and that she was b. 1777 and d. c1860. However, he had a sister named Eunice, and a Jemima Fletcher was named administratrix of his estate in 1826.

Fletcher Dale Bywaters Smoot	Claudette Whitefield seap2u@sbcglobal.net Seeking information on parents of Martin Fletcher b. ca. 1784 m. 1814 d. 17 Feb 1840 in Randolph Co., MO.  He was m. to Rachel Dale.  He is said to be son of James Fletcher b. 9 Apr 1758 Fauquier Co., VA, d. 27 Sep 1845 Adair Co., MO and Edy Bywaters d. bef. 1792 in Culpepper Co., VA.  James’ second wife was Mary Smoot.  Martin was supposed to have had a brother, William.  I'm looking for more definite evidence or any help on this line.
